# ATC, Measuring Tools, Speed of the Z axis

Is there a way to set the initial speed of the Z axis when measuring tools?  
The current speed is too fast for measuring v bits, especially 30 degrees and less, the tips are going to get damaged.

We increased the speed of the probing, but also increased the acceleration of the Z axis so it reacts faster.

This is done to reduce times between tool changes.

The spring rate of the tool height setter is very light (and unchanged obviously) so if you weren’t getting damage before you won’t be now.

The probe rate is not a configurable value.
