ATC system upgrade

Can I mount the Aux box upside down?

Then it will act like a DIVA.

The ATC oil will leak out.

I was going to do a blinker fluid joke but @Bean did better

So, the answer is “it makes no difference as the air regulator does not trap and gravity vent moisture”.

There isn’t any air regulators in the aux box

While upgrading the spindle mounting plate is there any preventative maintenance or inspections, I should do behind the fabric dust cover (or what it is called)?

You can put some grease on the lead screw if you want. But that also is a lot easier to do anytime with the new drop plate anyway…

Working on my cable management. Can I move the z axis with the old profile and the spindle turned off. I tried it and get drive fault.

On my machine the current inside spacing between the last and second to the last cross members is 16". I would have to rebuild the table setup to move that cross member. The only item I can find that is mounted to that cross member is the extend sensor mount. Are there issue with me fabricating and extension plate for the extend sensor mount?

I’m not totally clear what you’re talking about, but that last bay of the machine does need to be the dimension we call out…

Could you share a picture of what you’re proposing?

That’s probably fine, but there’s a reason we do specify that last bay spacing…

As long as your rack is sensed properly when it’s extended, and when it’s retracted it will probably be fine…

Now that all the ATC hardware is installed and I have the new software upload, can I build a non ATC profile so I can use the machine while I study/learn ATC and the workflows that will work for me.

You can… but that might be extra work for no gain…

You can go through the setup and only tell it you have one tool bin. If you don’t use tool number 1 all tool changes from 2 and above will be treated as a manual tool change.

You’ll want to do this because your tool height setter is now on your rack…

Honestly it’s probably less work just to get it setup as an ATC rather than try and work around it

Sounds good thanks

Setup Step 1: Teach XY Travel Limits

Homed machine

Start: Get a drive fault close to the X limit.

I have an extended gantry

More information:

The routine does not always run.

The rack was in the full retract position, I extended it a couple of inches manually and started the routine, the rack does not retract. How do I check for proper rack movement? Air pressure indicates good.

Are you sure it’s actually a drive fault? That indicates the servos were trying to move, got jammed on their way to trigger the X+ sensor. My guess is that you don’t have the X+ sensor flag in the right place (or installed at all) and that caused the machine to hit the end of travel.

I’d head back to the machine assembly instructions for your machine and make sure you’ve got that flag installed and that you have it it in the right spot.

Don’t manually manipulate the rack… During any job it should always be in it’s retracted state. It’s held in by air pressure. It only comes out when it needs to come out.
