Looking at buying a little used (less than 100 hours) pro 4896 that is 8 years old. Uses Mach 3, Nema 34 motors, 3hp spindle, good collection of bits. Any concerns about a machine this old? I am a cnc newbie, really like the Avid product but on a budget!

Depends on the price. 100 hours of use is practically nothing. It’s a new machine.
Support on the control system is something I’d call AVID and ask.
I am not sure if that machine has linear bearings or older 45 degrees roller bearings but linear bearings are much nicer. Having said that, I’ve done tons of work on older system.
If you planning to do rotary work, this may be a little outdated all tho people use Mach3 successfully.
just my 2c.
