# Mach 4 not communication with ESS

After running SCU and getting pings, I cant get mach 4 to communicate with Ess

I have tried setting the IP in the computer, I am using a usb to ethernet adapter

Consider opening a [support ticket with Avid](https://www.avidcnc.com/contact_us.php) for this one. I don’t remember anyone on the forum using a USB ethernet adapter with Mach 4, and my search didn’t turn up anything.
