I use one of these:

> **[Oxlasers 650nm Adjustable Red Cross Line Module for Positioning Crosshair...](https://www.amazon.com/Oxlasers-Adjustable-Positioning-Crosshair-Alignment/dp/B0D8DVR3FQ)**
>
> Wave Length: 650nm , Size: 80\*21mm, big heatsink , long dutycycle, can work 5-6 hours constantly! Item comes with 5V DC adapter and a mount houlder! Line wideness adjustable! Working Voltage: 3.7-5V, PACKING LIST: Red Cross Line Module\*1. 110-240V...

I was able to cobble together some hardware to work with what was in the box, eventually I 3D printed a holder for it:

It goes right into the T slot on the Z axis

I have another machine that has a cat laser pointer zip tied to it. That works great too, as long as the dot doesn’t move you’re good.

That’s how I mounted mine. I went with a green one as I find those easier to see (and cooler looking).

I use this ALL the time for non-precise origin setting.

Is that my model you printed or a riff on it (fine if it’s mine, I freely shared it here at some point)

It’s yours, printed using Tough 1500 on a Formlabs printer. Can’t remember if I had to tweak the diameter for this model – I think not but don’t really remember.

Look at you with your fancy printer! I did it on a Bambu using PETG 🙂

> This is the Fusion file I created: You might want to use a STEP file if you’re printing on a Bambu printer. You’ll likely get better quality. You can create an STL from this file as well.

They are very nice printers but they are a very expensive ecosphere w.r.t. materials.

Darn I printed out that 3D model you had in f360 and it’s way too small to fit the laser diameter. I bought the exact laser that you show in your message. Guess I’ll have to learn fusion to enlarge that hole

You have to configure it as an Ox:

 ![image](https://canada1.discourse-cdn.com/flex027/uploads/avidcnc/original/2X/0/0af63c30568e824a1ce3bde482f6972da9baa47f.png)

The diameter of the OX is around 22mm, you probably printed the 16.4 mm version

looks like I have version 1 of your holder, I downloaded it from another thread you had about this. do you have a google drive or something with all your goodies in it ?

I flatten and square a lot of river tables, the other day I was asked to do a Rosewood “L” shaped river table with waterfall legs, Oh did I mention that L shaped ? 80” ome way and 50” the other?? But with the Avid 48x120 it came out great.

You’re in the “manage” workspace, you need to be in the “solid” workspace and you’ll see the config option on the toolbar up top
