Hey everyone! We have a brand new version of Mach 4 that’s been updated for plasma.
This is a significant update to the Avid CNC Mach4 plasma screenset that is intended to provide more powerful control of the THC settings in an easy-to-use format. Please refer to these instructions for more information and usage instructions for the new features:
For this update, we are asking users to upgrade their existing version of Mach. This update will preserve your settings and update not only Mach, but the ESS plugin to a newer version.
Make sure you backup your Mach directory before doing this! Here’s how to do it:
Here are some notes/recommendations for this test:
- This is a beta test! While we have tried very hard to make this release work smoothly with a huge amount of machine configurations, and updates from Mach, the ESS, and us internally there is a potential for unintended consequences. Proceed with caution!
- You should not be using the “Disable Avid CNC Machine Configuration” option in our configuration menu and should not have customizations outside of our configurations. If you do, you should be very careful to save your Mach4Hobby folder and not overwrite it. In general, we can’t be responsible for performance with customizations, however, you are welcome to try at your own risk.
- The point of this test is to see if an upgrade goes smoothly, and to test the new plasma screenset and features.
-
Say it with me: Backup your Mach 4 Hobby folder!
For this test, we want to hear your feedback, good, bad, ugly etc right here in this forum. Even though we have an “Everything Plasma” category for chat here on this forum, please keep the talk specifically about this beta right here in this category. This will make it easier for us to keep track of the feedback.
When you post anything you are required to “tag” the post. If it’s just general commentary, tag it as “general”. If it’s a bug, feature request, etc please tag the post accordingly:
When you do run into a bug, remember that we cannot see your machine setup, your Mach settings, etc. Please describe your setup in as much detail as you can. You can also zip up your Mach4Hobby folder and post it here which will make it very easy for us to see your setup fully.
Now that all of the disclaimers are out of the way, here’s the beta!
