F10 - Shut Down Menu on CNC 12

I feel dumb asking this question, but… What is AVID’s recommended shust down procedure for the ex controller?

This is a snipet from the Centroid’s manual:

F2 – Poweroff: Use this to properly shut down the control. With most controls, this action turns off the control once
the system has prepared itself to be shut down. Just like a desktop computer, the control should be properly
shut down before turning off the power in order to reduce the risk of corrupting data on the hard drive.

Note: This will only turn off the control. The machine itself will still need to be manually turned off.

F9 – Exit CNC12: Use this to exit the CNC control software.

AVID’s screen set is slightly different. There is a “Power off PC” that just shuts down the whole computer (I assume while also properly shutting down the controller) but if I don’t want to shut my PC down yet what is the correct method to shut down just the controller. I was exiting using the F9 (Exit CNC 12) command but apparently that only affects the CNC control software but maybe not the controller itself…? Obviously, the last thing I do is turn off the power to the controller box itself but I don’t want to just flip the power switch if it is akin to yanking the cord out of the wall on a PC…

Don’t overthink it… this isn’t Mach where it can corrupt things if you don’t shut it down just so…

You can just power off your control box anytime you want, and just exit CNC12 if you want to use the computer for something else (or you want to shut it down)

You can also do it in the reverse order too… shut CNC12 down first and then the control box… it really doesn’t matter.

Thank you you for clarifying.

What’s funny for me is I was just thinking about this the other day and couldn’t find any thing!
