Thoughts on this Amana CNC Sanding Attachment: 61336 IN-SAND

Has anyone had personal experience with one of these from Amana? Seems great, but also seems like that would wreck the spindle? I’ve reached out to Avid for their thoughts and the directed me here. They show them in use on toolstoday social media. I just don’t see a lot of info or reviews or anything on them. Was wondering what everyones thoughts are. Yes, they’re quite expensive as well. I run a avid 6x12 pro cnc with the 8.7hp spindle on single phase currently so probably 6.5hp so it probably could handle it.

If I remember correctly I think @NLE might be using a similar bit for his sanding

I am running a sanding head similar to the Amana mine that is made by cncsandingtools.com

It is a learning curve for sure. The heat buildup can be an issue. I run mine in the fixed mode (non random) for what I feel are the best results for my workflow. Feel free to reach out if you want to chat about my experiences. Pete

Would you mind sharing here? I just picked up some 2” bowl sander pads for the drill, and I’d like to try them on the CNC. I’m curious how to go about dialing in feeds & speeds, grits, passes, etc.

I did not have good results with a fixed head (sanding attachment for a drill press or drill). The head needs to be able to float (spring loaded), otherwise there is to much pressure and the sand paper comes off or get destroyed.
