Hello all, This is my first post. Does anyone offer Avid CNC services in south central Pennsylvania?
Are you looking for services as in training, or someone fix/build your machine?
Actually I just wanted to see it in person as my brother and I are looking to purchase one. I also have some CNC work that I’d like to price.
I don’t know if I’m too far away for you, but I’m in Pittsburgh. I’ve had a Pro 48x96 machine for most of six years and I just placed and order for the servo motor EX Controller upgrade.
Let me know if I can help.
Garth
I‘m from north of Pittsburgh and have a 48‘‘ by 96‘‘ with EX and servos too.
Would be happy to show the machine and answer questions.

Hi Guys, Thanks but it sounds like both of you in the Pittsburgh area are about 3-4 hours from me. I’m in the Harrisburg area.
Hello Heiko77 & Garth Jones, Now that you’ve had the CNC for a while, what would you change about it, if anything? Any recommendations for a newbie looking to purchase an Avid CNC?
Well, the big change I’m making is the upgrade to the EX Controller and servo motors. I’ve been really happy with my machine. It’s done everything I’ve wanted it to with very little trouble. I do wish I had a 5’ wide machine because then I would have room for a rotary axis and still be able to put a sheet of plywood on the table. But the limit for me there is the size of the room.
The best piece of advice I got when deciding what to buy was ‘get your second CNC machine first.’ Don’t get a small starter machine and plan to upgrade later. If you have the space and the budget, buy the machine you think will really fulfill your needs for the long term. I did that and have never regretted it.
Cheers,
Garth
Hi. I recently moved from Europe to the US and couldn’t take my CNC with me so I just bought the avid. Compared to my old one the avid is less precise and way less sturdy, which was a big concern. After using it for around 4 months I don’t have these concerns anymore. The acid seems perfect for wood and I love the speed of the servos and the simple construction that allows easy maintenance and extensions.
I would buy it again and recommend it for large format woodworking.
Hello again, Heiko77 & Garth Jones. Thanks for the feedback and recommendations. I appreciate it.
You’re welcome! If you have any other questions please ask - this forum is small but mighty. If you’re ever out this way and want to see my machine, I’m happy to give a tour.
Thank you, Garth.
