AVID CNC Toolsetter

Avid’s published schematics for the machine mounted tool setter included with the EX controllers show an NC style circuit but the signal is routed through pins 3 and 4 as if it where an NO style circuit. The tool setter is connected to aux 2 on the 860 board which is wired to accept pins 3 & 4 as if it were meant for an NO style circuit as well. Ultimately the signal lands on input 5 of the Acorn board which is configured to expect an NC signal.

Am I intrepreting the the intended signal flow correctly? Is there any additional wiring magic or inversion circuitry going on to switch low to high?

Or, is it as simple as just intentionly wiring the M12 connector that way to take advantage of the exising 860 board and sending it straight to the Acorn Board as if it it was always an NC signal?

I hope this question makes sense…

You interpreted it all correctly. It is a real NC touch plate and we use the NO wires to send the NC signal back to Acorn.
