Ex controller, acorns ATC

Has anyone set up an atc in their acorns and would be willing to share the macro and basic setup? now that i got the unit working properly, i want to start implementing the ATC functionality to the system but seems like theres no videos or guides readily avaialable. I did find theres a macro available for download from the “rapid change atc” website but you have to purchase the unit prior to being able to download…

We are working on some documentation now.

We will have more to share in the coming days and weeks.

Those macros are very specific to the RapidChange ATC. It loads and unloads very differently from a traditional ATC with tool holders, so you wouldn’t want to use those.

Yeh, i figured as much, i just wanted to see a macro from acorns, seems its not as popular as mach. You can find 20 videos on mach with some great tutorials and downloads while i cwnt seem to find anything for cnc12, just some random short videos of atc’s working on an acorns system, but no in depth user walk through. If you got any direction you can point me in or have a link to some diy setup id greatly appreciate it!

There is a lot of information from Centroid here.
Mostly all written stuff.

I don’t yet (I have ordered the EX and servos and still waiting patiently), but once I find my way around CNC12 I’m sure I’ll be writing macros and maybe I’ll do a video or two if I can’t find some good ones out there already (I know that doesn’t help you now). I have looked a little and found the same as you, not a lot of content on macros yet for CNC12. However, I’ve looked at the language for it (in the mill manual) and its pretty simple (I’d liken it to the old BASIC language), so I think it’ll be pretty easy. I’m also hoping its better than Mach4 in that the commands (M and G codes in this case) actually do what the manual says vs. Mach4 where you had to debug every API to figure out what it really does.

Thanks Scott! After we got off the phone, i kept running into roadblocks, had a phone conversation with Eric, we checked aome code and it turned out that for some odd reason one of the M commands reverted back to to its factory settings in my avid profile. Once i downloaded a fresh copy of the profile and installed it the machine has been ripping right along! Thank you for all your help!

Now im more anxious for you to get the system than you are! Ill be looking out for any new content. Hopefully avid comes out with the wiring diagram for the cncdepot box soon as well so we can control the solenoids

I found this thread on the centroid forums, it looks to be a good stepping stone ro get the macro started with clear instructions

I have a few jobs to get out the door these next couple weeks but will look into deeper as soon as i have some time.

I ran across that last night too, just haven’t had time to read through it yet
