I have an AvidCNC Pro 48x96, and I am running Mach 4. Everything has been great but suddenly I have a problem.
When I home the machine, the Machine stops and the error line says that the motor is having trouble backing off the limit switch. I switched to the diagnostic tab and everything looks good. However, the Y axis keeps both indicators lit. I don’t know where to look to fix the issue. I don’t know if it is a Mach 4 issue or a motor/hardware problem, so any advice would be appreciated.
The machine was running fine this morning but suddenly after a reboot it has gone goofy, Anybody have a clue where to point me for help?
Mach4 has this “feature” where it likes to corrupt the configuration file (AKA Machine.ini located in C:\Mach4Hobby\Profiles\AvidCNC). Whenever someone says it worked fine until I rebooted or restarted Mach4 or something like that, but you didn’t make any changes to software or have some kind of other event (like you backed your F150 into your machine), then I suggest restoring the Machine.ini file with one in the backup.
So close Mach4 first. Then you can rename your Machine.ini (just in case you want to restore the current one), then go into C:\Mach4Hobby\Profiles\AvidCNC\Backups and copy the most recent Machine.ini.xx file from a date and time that you know the machine worked correctly. This file is created each time Mach4 is started.
Paste that file up one directory in C:\Mach4Hobby\Profiles\AvidCNC, and delete the .xx from it so that it is just named Machine.ini. Then restart Mach4 and see if it is now working.
Okay, tried that without success. I also reinstalled the Mach 4 software, again no success in repairing the problem.
