Problem Homing my Benchtop Pro 2x3

Hello!

I am trying the homing process on a used machine. It triggers the Z home and then the X home just fine. But when it approaches Y2- limit switch (in the front right corner of the machine), the proximity switch triggers but the motor does not stop and it slams into the recess bumper. Does anyone know the reason why?

Is it set up with a single Y axis motor or two? Are you running auto-squaring? If the light on the proximity sensor is coming on, it sounds like a configuration issue of some sort.

I have 2 Y-axis motor similar to the Benchtop PRO assembly instruction for NEMA 23 motor, Y1 motor on the left Y2 motor on the right. I am looking at the diagnostic tab of Mach 4 software and for some reason, the homing sensor are in Y1 and Y2 which corresponds to Y1- proximity switch and Y2- proximity switch instead of Y2+ switch as homing sensor. Is there a reason why?

ok it appeared to be a configuration problem. I think the motor direction for Y-axis are flipped, where in the Mach4 software can I go to reconfigure that?

I’ve only run Mach 3 and Centroid Acorn, but I’m sure someone who knows will chime in shortly. Nice work hunting down the issue.

ok i got it figured out, there is a configuration change in homing within Configure > Controls > Homing/SoftLimits of Mach4. Y-axis homing direction should be positive, the default has it as negative and Y2++ at the front left corner are not designated as homing sensor in the software. So for homing in the Avid CNC benchtop PRO 2x3, the home is back left corner
