Will the S30s spindle from CNC Depot be compatible with the new retractable tool rack and aux box?
Yes, but there will be some manual configuration involved. We will have that documented for you.
A bit of detail:
The Smart Spindle from us has sensors in it for drawbar up/down and sensors to confirm that the spindle isn’t spinning, and inputs for the button on the side for manual tool changes.
This all runs through a single cable from the aux box to the smart spindle.
For non smart spindle users, like those with an S30 you’ll have to switch some of that functionality over to pneumatics. Inside the aux box there’s a distribution board that can move things that would have been electrically actuated (like the drawbar on the smart spindle) over to an air valve.
So on your S30 you’d want to switch the drawbar over to an air valve, and use another one for case pressure.
On the software side you just go into the wizard and setup the outputs, and you’ll be good to go.
It’s not a one click setup, but it’s been thought through enough that with some basic manual configuration it will work.

You can likely select “already have AV70/40” and you’ll get the correct kit. Even better just contact support and have them do up a quote for you. You’ll still get your preorder slot, and they’ll hand quote your order so that it’s exactly what you need for your particular setup/machine.
