Just recently we started having issues where our machine would just stop moving in the middle of a job. Different GCode, different lines, it’s not the GCode it’s something with the machine.
We’ve got a Benchtop Pro 2436 with the plug and play control system and Mach4, basically what happens is the gantry just stops moving. No message of any kind in the terminal, the spindle stays on, and it isnt an M0 or something, as cycle start does nothing but show a message saying that the job is already running. Any ideas on what this problem might be?
Unfortunately I’ve had the same thing happen with Mach4. I never really figured it out. I tried a faster computer, which maybe helped a little, but it still happened, especially with larger files. Honestly it was the main reason I upgraded to the Ex controller.
During a support call right after I got my machine, they had me disconnect power and push on the control boards to seat them. In my case, they had worked loose during shipping, but it’s possible vibration can also cause issues. At another time, I fixed a problem by checking connections in and out of the control box. Inside the box, I gently pushed wires into their connections and tightened the small flat-head set screws, and I think that’s what fixed it.
