Tool too large for setter

It maybe mentioned here but I don’t see it. I have a large slabbing tool that I don’t think I can touch off after I insert the tool. I have the new ex controller with height setter. How do you bypass the touch off on the tool height setter? I mounted the touch plate below my spoil board to be sure I don’t hit it since I cut 4x8 sheets often.

If the tool diameter truly is too large to hit the tool setter a prompt will come up and present you with options. If it’s a slabbing tool often you can just move it to the side a little bit and touch off the wing of the tool (the menu that presents will allow you to do this)

Alternatively you can go to the UTILs menu and manually measure the tool off of the spoilboard.

On the topic, I’ve been meaning to ask: when I enter a diameter of 0.5, the macro asks me the same prompt for a large tool. It makes sense for a huge diameter tool like a surfacing bit; however, a 0.5” diamter tool will easily be handled by the tool setter.

Perhaps a bug? I just enter 0.25 for anything but a large bit as the tool chart diameter doesn’t matter (for me) anyways.

Eric, I need to try and see if I can catch one wing of the cutter, but I wanted to make sure there was a way to measure from the top of the spoil board if I cannot touch off. Thanks!

This vide, despite being about the drag knife actually shows you how to manually measure the length of a tool: https://youtu.be/XFRQXqGYgEM?list=PLQ5pqs2eIFYS-GSj7NWr3TFlp9Nb5iRDd

You don’t always have to do the manual way… If you just tell the control what the actual diameter is it will offer you the ability to either manually measure, or move it so you can hit the wing on the plate
