Upgrading our spindle and selling an ATC spindle

I volunteer at a non profit makerspace in San Antonio TX, and we have an Avid Pro 60120 that was donated to us a couple of years ago. It was still in the boxes when we received it and we put it all together, with the exception of the CNC Depot S30C ATC spindle kit it was shipped with. because of the way our makerspace runs, we decided that an ATC would not be appropriate for our uses, and installed a smallish water cooled spindle that we’d been using on our older CNC machine.

We’ve been wanting to upgrade to something a bit more powerful and reliable, and were recently offered a good deal on a Hiteco 4hp spindle. That said, we are wanting to sell the S30C, to fund this other spindle, but I am unclear if the cable that came with the S30C will work well with the Hiteco. I’m pretty sure the VFD we have will work fine, but am open to thoughts about that too.

I am attaching images of the S30C and some of the gear that came with it, including the cable and the Delta VFD, along with the specs plate from the Hiteco.

We’re not sure what exactly to sell (considering some of it may work with the Hiteco), or how much we should ask for it (the retail was $3,995.00 for the spindle kit at the time of purchase), considering it’s no longer sold by CNC Depot.

I’d say you really could go one of two ways.

Option1, Given what you have pictures of, you could keep the VFD and orange cable to use with the Hiteco. This would require programming and connecting to the AVID cnc box. Who ever setup the existing spindle might be able to do all this work for you.

Option 2, Buy a box from AVID and let them do the hard work and just plug things together.

You could probably sell the spindle by itself or with the cable and VFD to the right buyer. I’d say somewhere north of $1,500 and south of $3,500.
