Using EX controller - after resurfacing spoilboard, is it just one measurement to adjust MTC data?

I’m finishing up my EX controller upgrade (along with servos and AV40S). I had added all of my bits using the MTC utility (which did the tool length measurement on all the bits). Well now I have surfaced the spoilboard. Do I just go back into the Utils menu and do a one time “Calibrate work surface location”, and I’m done ? That one step covers all the tools that I had measured ? Do that and things are magically back in sync ? Or is it even required at all if I tend to use a touch plate and work off the top of the work surface ?

Thanks for any and all advice.

Yes, every time you surface your spoilboard you need to run this utility

You actually don’t have to do this. Every time you insert a new tool it’s measured off of the tool height setter, we actually don’t store the lenghts on tools. We will on our new software update/ATC system that’s coming later this year

Good to know.

Hmmm, relative to saving the tool length - does it save the length of the last tool used ? I was using my slab flattening bit for days on end while I was adjusting for tilt and nod. Each day (numerous power cycles) - it always said - tool 40 length measured. As in it remembered it.

But as always - thank you for your words of wisdom !!

yes, whatever tool that is in the spindle has it’s length stored until you change it (even through power cycles)
