4896 Pro CNC micro pauses while running gcode

First POST: Our CNC during the surfacing operation randomly will do a micro pause and continue running. this is happening on the X and Y travel.

I can jog the machine at full speed in all directions without any issues.

When I run the surfacing file it randomly does the micro pause.

I think its Mach 4: we installed the latest and also reinstalled an earlier version but both did the same thing. But it could be mechanical due to the maintenance we did.

Note, we updated all our belts and replaced all 3 pro drive gears.

Thank you all in advance for your wise advice.

Just curious, What are the affects of the micro pauses doing? And are you actually running the gcode from the hard drive or from a USB flash drive?

I asked this in facebook recently and no one seemed to think there was a difference in performance. Sooooo… What is the purpose of asking him if its ran from the hard drive vs the USB?

We ran from the hard drive.

I’m not a expert! I’ve had issues in the past running gcode from a flash drive. In my case there was missing lines of gcode. There also slower and mainly used for transferring data files to the hard drive.

thats what i thought.

I had to roll back to an earlier version of mach4 to fix this, I was getting constant micro pauses (like multiple per second) with the latest release. I tried installing the newest release on two different computers and got the same jittery results.

Rolling back to 2.3.8 solved it, would be interested to know if this affects your performance as well.

Link that avid support sent me to 2.3.8:

Thank you, I will give these a shot. Going to try to run the surfacing today.

Hello, we rolled back and that fixed all of the micro burst issues. Thank you all for the feedback.
