Is 5 minutes long enough for a spindle warm up or should it be longer just would like your opinion? Thank you
Most spindles come with a specific warm up routine at various speeds. In general, if you use the routine that comes with Avid’s setup (Mach4 and Centroid), then yeah, the ~5 minutes it does is fine.
Okay thanks corbin! So then most manufacturers will have a listed warm up time correct?
Yup; here’s what my HITECO QD-1F manual says, and I’d have a pretty strong feeling that the majority of the spindles need something similar.
Warm up instructions for the S3OC take a full 14 minutes and it specifies a temp that should be reached on the case. I have to measure it when the warm up cycle is finished to be sure. Takes longer the winter. Wish mine was only 5 minutes!
Yes sometimes in the winter it can get below 40 in the garage/ shop I could run the warm up a few times I wonder if that’s adjustable for just that situation
