907 Z axis travel exceeded

Now, a new issue! I have a custom pro CNC 5 x 10 with the upgraded EX controller and the ATC AV40S spindle. The upgrade from Mach 4 to EX went well, great no issue. Been working with my tool for several months.

Today, I was preparing to set up a work for custom cutout, I go through my usual sequence, power up the spindle, power up the ex controller, open CNC12 software, communication connects ok, goes throught homing procedure ok, then proceed to set my # 6 tool AND this is where a communication issue started to pop up on the screen, 8075 warning: tool touch off tripped, and then 8095 warning: touch plate tripped, in a repeated sequence. I took pictures can’t see the attach file option?

I reloaded CNC12 software, created a new profile, re-set to all values from my previous profile, connected a brand new work surface touch plate, did a quick peak at the tool height setter (not dust or obstruction visible), verified the proper connection (AUX 1 for touch plate and AUX 2 for tool height, pointless the unit was working well before!), reloaded my license, reset tool height and surface location, the previous error does not show up and now the unit is giving me another error listed as follow:

  1. G53 Z0
  2. G53 X#9708 Y#9709 ; go to whre the touch plate is
  3. M115 /Z P#9706 F # 105 ; moves down in Z until the tool touch off is hit
  4. ; M106 /Z P#9706 F30 ; mocwa soqn in until the tool touch off is hit
  5. => G91 Z#106 F #105 ; moves up a bit wo we can hit the switch in increment (line is is highlighted)
  6. G90 '; goes black to absolute position
  7. M115 / Z P#9706 F #106 ; moves down in Z until the touch plate is hit
  8. 101 = # 5023; this should be the tool lenght to spoilbard

  9. g0 g53 z0 ; get all the way back up in Z
  10. M200 "jog to work surface with bit just touchingit \n then press cylce start
907 Z axis travel exceeded. (this line is highlighted)

At this point, the spindle does not even go down to the tool height and this error pops up every time!

So looks to me a software setting, I"m missing can’t put my finger on it!

Anyone seen this before?

Well, did a bit more digging on the unit and looks like the issue came from the tool height setter. The top plate some how could not spring back to initial position, and would trigger an error signal on screen. I gave a slight push upward and kept pressure on the plate while the doing a tool change. No errors! I gave a slight lube to the guide bearing, reset the sping and ensured no obstruction. Quite a day for troubleshooting! looks like I’m back on track!

Nice one Max!! Always like figuring things out on my own  :+1:
