I’ve been doing a bit of work to organize the peg-board above the work bench out in the garage. It may have been inevitable, but of course the tools are running out of space and asking for more. Due to their incessant yammering (wink) I’ve taken to fabricating a few organizers to make better use of the space that is available…
Started with a super simple flat pattern, thrown together in CAD and proceeded directly to G-Code generation, post-processing and on out to the garage to set up the plasma cutter. The only dimensions needed were clearance sizes for the tool tips and handles. (This can be seen in an image further below.) The whole process, from starting into the CAD to being headed to the garage with G-Code, was on the order of ~15mins.
And of course the plasma cutting went smoothly…
These pieces are cut from 10Ga (0.135) mild steel. It is overkill for this use, however it became the material of choice since I had it on hand.
The plasma cutter made beautifully quick work of these pieces and with-in minutes I was off and running.
Some 1/8in mild steel rod was manually cut / bent up to make a few bracketry pieces and mounting hooks.
lastly the parts were welded up, painted and put to use. The entire project went super fast.
So, … there we have it, a quick and simple tool organizer made on the plasma cutter. This was pretty fun and needed ever so much.
