Anyone managing more than 200 tools in Acorn CNC12? How?

I’ve posted a feature request in the Centroid forum asking for an increase to the 200-tool library limit, but I’m curious – how are folks managing more than 200 tools within this constraint?

Anyone using workarounds, multiple libraries, or other strategies to handle a large number of tools?

Here’s my Centroid forum post for reference:

That’s going to be the best place to ask a question like this… I have to ask… Do you really physically have more than 200 tools?!

I do! 1498 of them, in 301 different types/sizes :grimacing:

As far as I know Centroid doesn’t even do that in their industrial control systems… That ls a LOT of tools… What do you do with them all?!

For now, just hoarding as I haven’t assembled my Avid CNC yet  (waiting for my AV70S to ship as well).

87% of these tools are mainly for milling aluminum. I decided to front-load my tools and essentially got pretty much every tool type and size to experiment with, instead of slowly getting them over time and getting stuck on “if only I had that tool in that particular size”, then entering them in the tool library little by little, etc.

Big mistake? Maybe.

You bought 1,500 tools before your CNC arrived??? Did you also buy 100 machines?

Look, if I break a tool mid-job, I don’t want to stop. If I break 1,000 tools mid-job, I still don’t want to stop

You better go ahead and buy 1500 tool holders as well…

I like the way you think! Let me run some numbers, hold on.
