Hi,
I did a modification to the Automatic Tool Height Setter from AVID CNC.
It is supposed to be on top of the spoilboard, but as I’m ofter working with big sheet of plywood/MDF I was certain I would hit the thing and break it sooner or later.
So I added a new hole at the top of the aluminium support plate so it would sit bellow the spoilboard. (I used regular column drill for this) As you can see on my pictures, I had to redo this process a second time because I changed my mind and installed the thing on the left side instead of the right side of my machine.
I also had to rotate the top plate 90° as the bits where hitting right at the empty spot.
I also had to modify the plastic cover that you can find and print here.
Overall it is working fine !
The only bit that I can not auto calibrates is my 60mm surfacing bit. Everything else is working great.
AVID CNC, if you see this, please add this configuration possibility to your future Automatic Tool Height Settler.
