I’ve recently upgraded to the AV40S ATC 4HP spindle and I’ve noticed the spindle heating up and the spindle is making a high pitch noise when set at 18k with a 1/4 bit. I’m wondering if this is in expected with this spindle. I don’t recall this type of, I’m thinking overheating, perhaps with the 4HP spindle. I would like to know if it is expected that AV40S casing will be hot to the touch (RPM set at 18K) to the point that you can’t keep your hand on the casing for long time. Also, the high pitch noise is a bit unusual. Is there a feature in CNC12 to have temperature feedback on the spindle? , or is a working temperature range available?, I’ve scouted the internet for numbers, and for this spindle a working temperature between 40C and 60C is considered within specs, if exceeding 70C, might be signs of bearing failure. would it make sense to look into water cooling options?
