My spindle spindle will not turn if requested rpm is less than 10,000. The AV70S specifications mention Max 24k but I was unable to find a Min rpm. What is the minimum rpm that this spindle will turn?
1000 RPM, it’s in the grayed out “minimum rpm” box there.
They don’t have a lot of torque at that RPM. Peak HP starts at 18k RPM:
What I don’t understand is if I set a drilling operation at 7500 rpm then the spindle wont turn. The electric fan comes on and the machine moves but there is no rotation of the spindle. I see that the hp would only be ~2.5hp per the spec but shouldn’t the spindle still spin up to that rpm? I am just trying to figure out if there is some other issue or if this is normal for the spindle.
You can test my going to MDI on the main screen and typing this command: M3 S1000
After you type that press cycle start. The spindle should spin.
If it doesn’t keep upping the speed until you get it to spin.
If it does spin this way at 1000 we can check your g code
I started at 1000 but no spinny. I made my way up to 8200 and it just started spinning.
There were some spindle speed changes between software version 5.18 and 5.24. If you’re on the older version you could try updating to see if that fixes it. If not you’ll need to contact support and get a ticket going.
