Have you solved your issues with stuck lines of code, with the spindle running? I am having the same travel and spindle problem, with sporadic clunks. I have run my machine for several years and am just now experiencing this. I have been in contact with AVID and they have not had a solution yet. On my end, computer speed or capacity is not the issue. Also I file size doesn’t affect whether this occurs or not.
I wouldn’t say I found a solution but more of a work-around. I only had those problems when I had a large g code file loaded and mach 4s toolpath preview was active.
Now, I just make sure the toolpath preview window is NOT active and everything has been working fine.
I haven’t tried mach 4 on a newer / faster computer yet but I suspect it fix the issue I was having.
You can do a lot of trouble shooting, as you probably already have but I would probably start by installing mach 4 on a different PC because that’s probably the simplest thing to try. I know you said it’s not a computer speed or capacity issue but that still doesn’t necessarily rule out you computer.
Try mach on a different PC, even if it’s a slower/older one. If it works then you know it’s your current PC that’s caused your issues. If not, then at least you eliminated your as being the problem
Thanks yeah for sure, I was considering formatting an older PC I have that I think would still run fine, and at least determine if it’s the PC. I’ve looked through some other threads and it seems like your suggestion has a good chance of being a solution.
I run pretty large files on my cnc. One of them takes 17 minutes to load and render. After solving the static issue through proper grounding each part, I only get this issue, sometimes on days > 38deg C. It usually means that some part is not properly grounded. Else it works fine.
NOTE to CNC Support. I believe you should include a proper grounding wires for all the moving parts of the CNC.
I am using a old laptop without any problems. but it is dedicated tot he my CNC and no outside lan connection.
