Avid Pro going into drive fault after spindle begins to slow down

Hey everyone,

My machine keeps going into drive fault at the end of jobs, right after the spindle raises in the Z axis. This happens with about a third of the jobs I run, it happens inconstantly even when running the same exact job back to back. At first I thought it might be something to do with the Z axis travel, but then today it happened right as the spindle was slowing down after a spindle warmup. I got the message on the screen that the “warmup is complete”, and then the spindle began to slow down and the machine went into drive fault. When it does this, I reset the fault and try to jog the machine but as soon as I try to jog it in any axis it immediately goes into drive fault again. I’ve been having to shutdown and restart the machine every time this happens, and then when I start the machine up I can jog it around no problem. I have a AV40s spindle and a EX controller.

Any help is appreciated thank you

Open up a ticket with support. There are a couple of things this might be related too… spindle brake, or potentially some something on one of our circuit boards.

The support folks can help you trace this through.
