Can't Set Negative Number in "Move after Home"

In the setting “Move after Home” I tried to put in a negative number for Y and it would not let me. I was able to put a positive number in X. My sitting position is opposite the Y home position so I want to park near my sitting position.

The move after home is a machine position. It’s not relative to the XY coordinates of your job that you have zeroed too. It’s impossible for the machine to move to a negative XY position in machine coordinates because it would hit the end tops of the machine and crash.

To elaborate a little:

A “move after home” position of X12 will have your X location 12" away from where the machine moved in X no matter where you’ve zeroed your job to.

Leire K – told me I needed to move my Y axis to the back of my machine. I did it and now Y zero is at the back of my machine. To move my Y axis to my seating position the position goes negative. I did put a postive number in and the Y axis did not move. Negative numbers can’t be entered in the “Move after Home”. Help

When you home the machine it homes to the bottom left corner.

The bottom left corner is machine X0 Y0 in machine coordinates. You cannot move more negative than the home position. This is why the “move after home” position doesn’t accept a negative number because it’s impossible for the machine to move there.

The machine coordinate system is like the layout of a Battleship game, it never changes. X0Y0 is always the bottom left corner of the machine.

When you zero out your work to be cut you can do that anywhere on the table, and you CAN move negative coordinates because those are your WORK coordinates, not MACHINE coordinates.

If you move the machine to end of the table and zero your Y there, you’re just zeroing your work coordinates.

Again, “move after home” is only for machine coordinates, it is not related to where you set your XY zero.

The ONLY way to change that is if you did a VERY advanced setup to the machine parameters, which my guess would be that you didn’t…

If you are working with Leire in support please make sure she’s aware of this thread. Hopefully this helps.
