Searched a bit… I’d like to set up a “dummy” or virtual machine so I can learn at home. Problem is, my machine isn’t exactly mobile. Is it possible to run CNC12 in a virtual mode?
Centroid suggests Intercon can act as that in “demo” mode but it’s only available standalone for $160. I did see that they also suggests that it’s included as part of a license? Anywhere to start with this?
To open CNC 12 you need to be connected to a machine that is powered on. There is an “offline” version but that ONLY has Intercon, the conversational CNC programming interface which is not what you’re going for (I suspect that you don’t want to hand code G code)
Yeah, google pointed me to the demo download for Intercon and I have it running… mainly I want to visualize Fusion output as it will be interpreted by CNC12. Intercon seems to do that, sort of… working on defining the machine limits. I have screen shots of most of the settings for my machine, so think i can approximate it.
Fusion’s simulation says everything works fine, but when I open the .tap file it produces I get problems (per my other post today)
I’d be interested to hear how this works out. Word of warning: This is 100% not supported by us (Avid)
We’ve done a fair bit of modding of CNC12 to get it to work with our “curated” system. That offline Intercon is just “stock” CNC12 with a lot of stuff stripped off of it.. it might work, it might not..
Again, genuinely interested in how this works out for you.
If you just want to visualize G code, I use NCviewer.com all the time.
Also, the NCNetic plugin for Notepad++ on windows is great too.
