I’m new to cnc. I purchased a home built cnc and controller from an engineer friend of mine. He used it for a year worked great. Brought it to my house he helped me set everything up then it sit for 6 months or so when I got back to it my computer was acting up so I bought a new one. Downloaded my Mach license and vectric license everything went perfect. Now when I try connect to my controller I get a message ESS Not responding to IP 10.9.9.9 . I’ve tried rebooting the controller and computer several times and still the same thing .
Any help would greatly be appreciated I’m just getting into cnc and I’m lost lol .
There’s probably not a ton we can do if it’s all home built, however it sounds like what is happening is that your ethernet port isn’t configured correctly. You could try our SCU:
That will guide you to configuring the ethernet port and connecting to the ESS
Hey man that worked I got my machine moving the only problem I have now is when I jog y axis the motors go in opposite directions x and z work great I think I can figure it out thanks so much !
Do you know of a good home built cnc forum?
You can invert the motor directions in the Mach setup. That should be covered in the Mach users guide. You can likely find the setting by just going through the configuration menus in Mach.
There are some good hobby CNC groups on Reddit and Facebook that might be worth checking out too.
