Ethernet connectivity issues

Hey there,

Has anyone come across ethernet connectivity issues? While running this past week, I started having a new message pop-up which I had not seen before. In the middle of flattening, I would observe a communication error message. It let me know I needed to use shielded Ethernet, which I have been using. When I close the window the CNC would immediately start flattening again.

Not sure if this would help or has anything related to this issue, but my computer is a framework laptop charged via a USB-C. I made sure to get the framework USB-C charger since it comes with a grounded charger.

For flattening the only difference in the flattening I was preforming this time was that the wood was poplar.

Are you using the shielded ethernet cable that was provided with the controller?

I am not. I needed a long cable, so bought a longer shielded ethernet cable shortly after building my machine. See the amazon link above.

I also, per advice on the avid facebook group, just grounded my AVID CNC dust boot mount to the Z axis as of today. I’m going to see if they helps at all. I think I’ll also empty my dust collection system fully.

Use the ethernet cable provided. That cable was carefully selected.

Does avid offer a 20’ cable?

No. But to troubleshoot with our cable. If the problem goes away we know it’s your cable. I’ve seen this happen before.
