Just received my ex controller with servos and it being the weekend i havent heard back from avid so im hoping someone can chime in.
1st issue, does anyone know where to hook up the pwm signal to control the spindle on the acorn board as my plug and play from cncdepot hasnt come in yet
2nd issue is the z axis, they sent over a new top plate to house the servo and a bottom plate that has a brake built in, when trying to take off the bottom plate there are two set screws that hold the bottom plate to the screw and ive already broken two allen keys trying to take them out, im assuming they are locktited in and since its a tiny 2mm set screw the keys just twist, i do not want to take a hammer to it. Is there any way to remove the bottom plate or do i have to torch or drill the set screws out?
Ive already swapped all the other servos, ran all the wiring and have jobs to get out the door, ireally dont want to put the steppers back on just to redo this step again next week.
I cant find any documentation or instructions on retrofitting the new z axis components.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
I’m wondering if a manual impact driver set would work? And you can’t find anything in the ex controller instructions?
I ordered a bunch of bits off amazon, ill try to torch them and give it another shot. I broke two of my high quality wera tools so im assuming cheap chinese knock offs wont be any better. But i did order a bunch of impact ready and some standard keys to see if the heat will make a difference.
Just a pain in the butt at the moment, spent hours bench testing, running all the wires, redoing all the bumpers, updating software, changing post processor and now im stuck…
Hey Lucas, some pics might go a long way. Let us see what you’re seeing.
Yep sure looks like an abundance of blue thread lock. You can see it was run at speed before it dried and flung some off. Luckily that’s generally going to be the medium stuff, not the much more difficult red stuff.
I’d think some heat and some shock torque will do the trick. All in the nature of upgrade-itis!
