Holiday Ornaments

We’re getting into the holiday spirit at the Portland Avid CNC Shop!

After completing some signs earlier this month, we were left with a PILE of leftover wood and painted plywood. Rather than let all that great material go to waste, we wanted to repurpose our scraps into something festive.

With that in mind, we got to work designing some small ornaments in VCarve that could easily fit on our leftover material.

In order to achieve our whisper-thin design details, we all made use of VCarve Pro’s V-Carve / Engraving toolpath setting:

This operation gives you the option to not set a flat depth. When that box isn’t checked, the v-bit will only carve to the point where the width of your vector is reached.

Once our g-code was prepared, all we had to do was sit back and watch as our CNC gracefully carved the surface of our material…almost like a figure skater on a frozen pond

We loved how these little guys turned out and couldn’t wait to share them with you. Feel free to download our cut files!
