If you had a choice this year what would you get first the rotary 4th axis or the deployable laser system? 
like I said just for fun (on the fence)…
The laser is sold out at the moment, so it looks like the rotary is the thing you want! 
(PS the laser will be back at some point)

Rotary. I love my rotary and use it all the time.
If it is for Fun, I would choose the laser, if it was for enhancing your production capability, I would choose the Rotary. I have both.
If it is for quick gifts and toys, I use the laser much more.
If it is for fine furniture, I use the rotary much more, especially for traditional table and chair legs

I have both. I have the rotary since two years and never used it. I have the laser since a year and use it every week. I think it depends what you want to do. The laser is always plugged on it so using it is easy. The rotary axis, if it’s not permanently on your CNC (and using some space), then it takes time to setup. I need to remove a part of my spoilboard to put the rotary in place, and I did not find a way to do that without having to resurface the spoilboard every time I put it back. So at the end, the rotary stays on my wall. I have a 5x5 CNC, I assume that if you have a bigger one with the rotary permanently mounted it’s not the same issue.
