Laser XY Offset Calibration

Has anyone had an issue with the XY laser calibration utility? I’ve had issue in the past when first setting up the EX controller. I just tried it again after installing the ATC and new laser deployment system and when I go to run the laser the offset is 6 to 8 inches off in both -X and -Y. Last time I just adjusted the offset in the Acorn wizard until I got it dialed in but it seems it should be really close following the directions in the calibration utility.

Am I missing something?

It should have netted out to be around 4-5 inches in X and just a little bit in Y…

What are your offsets right now?

And what are the steps you took to do the calibration?

I’ve been changing the x and y to get it closer but I think right after the initial calibration is was something like -6"X and 13.07" Y.

I loaded a v-bit initially then went to utilities, diode laser utilities, calibrate X Y.

I moved the spindle to an arbitrary location and jogged down in Z to mark my spoilboard. Then confirmed and hit cycle start. It put the tool away and came back stating the laser would fire and told me to move the laser dot to the mark I made on the spoilboard with the v-bit. I did so then hit cycle start and it said X Y was calibrated.

I just ran through the process again. The image below shows where the laser is wanting to start cutting, but the target should be the circle drawn in black at the top left corner of the material to the right.

Offsets shown in the acorn wizard now after just recalibrating are +5.5827 X, and -1.0200 Y.

Hold the presses! I think this is yet another bonehead move on my part. I just realized I set 0,0 at the lower left corner, but have the origin in my Aspire file set to center of material.

Reloading the updated file now and will see what happens…

Yeah, that works a lot better!!!

Glad you worked it out!
