New Laser Deployment System Details

Are there available more details on the new laser deployment system? I haven’t seen anything new on the website or technical documentation.

Context: I have original deployment system with the Opt 15W laser and for my work, this has been a bit of a disappointment. If I only did engravings or cuttings on flat surfaces, and issue A below wasn’t present, it might actually work well.

But I laser on 3D surfaces

Concerns/Issues with the Current Deployment:

A) The air cylinders do not align with the lower plate. They are slightly out of parallel and no adjustment has seemed to work. Trust me – I have tried. The cylinders don’t align enough to create resistance, particularly the uplifting cylinder. Deployment is not dependable. Seems like the right angle piece the cylinders attach to above wasn’t milled correctly. Result is deployment and retraction aren’t always trustworthy.

B) Not enough throw distance. In the up position it sits too close to the spindle. This is most notable in rotary operations. In the deployed state, it doesn’t move far enough down to make the spindle out of the way, even with tools removed.

C) The laser nozzle (short version shown here) barely clears a large amount of fixed hardware behind it. I get approximately 7 degrees from nozzle tip to the end of the deployment platform. This tight restriction severely limits using the laser, with 12-18mm at most of focal distance below the nozzle, from being used in 3d carvings.

I believe some if not all of these might be resolved in the ATC compatible new system. Can anyone confirm?

Boom:

On my (nonstandard) system, the tool pockets are spaced just the right distance apart that the laser goes between them when it changes tools.

Not something I considered until after the first fateful tool change…

Awesome!, thanks for putting that video together. It seems like the new system would resolve all of my current issues.

What, I could have just asked for a video to see what it looks like instead of ordering one of them?

I really like all the extra flat real estate with all the extra tapped holes. Much easier to add stuff like flow meters and coolant mist nozzles, etc.

I am missing the sheet you had taped to the inside of the AUX Box. Is that something you can send me?
