Yep, when you spend your whole day in the garage office you need a good chair.

I got one of those Viper chairs last year. They are expensive, but very comfortable and it is actually standing up to garage use much better than the last two I had.

If we’re talking shop chairs… I got a Aeron stool off craigslist a decade ago. They last forever and you can get parts directly from Herman Miller. This one is still original, but I have almost completely rebuilt a regular Aeron chair that I scalped from the 2000 boom. They are pricey, but VERY well built.

Nice, you are sitting up high like Captain Kirk.

All I can say is beam me up Scotty

My barber has that chair..loves it

They are expensive, but it is very comfortable and stands up to use in the shop very well. It was worth the money.

I guess the saying is true Buy one’s cry once!!

I want to know if it would be better to buy an expensive brand of chair. I’m not sure and I’m afraid of wasting money. I usually use it for work and sometimes I also need one for playing games at home.

For me!! I’d rather get a cheaper one for a garage shop with the features im happy with

I think the problem (as least for us older folks), is that $100 doesn’t get you much these days. I looked around a lot and bought a $100 chair for my shop, and it started falling apart on day 1. The upholstary ripped in the seat, the foot rest kept coming off, and the wheels are garbage.
Then my wife saw what it ended up like and said “buy a good chair”. You don’t have to tell me twice :-).

$700 is a rediculous amount for a shop chair, I’ll admit that…but it is built like you would expect for that as well.

My barber has a Viper chair and LOVES IT..but he sits in it all day for work. I’ve been looking on facebook marketplace for one like @GeneralYoda so I too can be Captain Kirk…I haven’t even ordered my Avid yet, but once I get it in I’ll determine what size (height) works best for me.

Thanks for your reply, I will seriously consider this.

You could always make one with your CNC…
