After cutting allot of pieces today..I noticed the magnetic base is kind of weak…not sitting right.
it turns out on of the spring pins was stuck so I disassembled it and the switch to try to fix it but it needs to be replaced as its badly stuck.
I assembled everything and tested it out and had a crash …switched was assembled pushed in ..disassembled again made correction but now the ohmic does not work.
replace all consumables…tested ohmic wire going to the switch ..good…tested clamp going to plasma good…tested touch off button in cnc12 the one which test the switch works good.
Did ALT+I to check plc input output…the one for the plasma does not work …THC configured as installed…Loaded another plasma version …same no ohmic…where and what else should I look for? Tnx.
I dissembled the switch again the wires seems good…good continuity from the ohmic ring wire to the switch…switch seems to be working good…between the connections.
Clean the plate …measure continuity from the plate to the plasma ground that connects to the plasma din connection also good.
one thing I am trying to understand is only one wire going to one of the switch contact and leads
to nowhere…how does this works?
Is there any other test I can do to pinpoint my issue?..Machine still cutting fine here
Are you testing the ohmic with the torch powered on or off? I believe it needs to be on for it to read properly (with the ground clamp being properly on the material or directly touching the ohmic)
Plasma machine on /off does not work …yes ground clamp on the material..lowering torch to touch the material does not work. clamping the plasma ground clamp to the torch ohmic does not work.
Was working fine since Centroid install … yesterday this happened…
Where can I find schematics…correct me if I am wrong only… 2 wires are used ? black and blue going to where the black box (mach4) was installed?..I measured till there and wires are good…so now I need to measure the other one going to the machine Centroid control box.
but the thing is if one of these wires are broken the switch wont work…I think.
but I cannot understand…the Ohmic wire going into the switch how it works…I see other machines uses 1 ohmic wire and ground going to a board.
Which ground is used for the ohmic? from the plasma ground clamp going thru the machine out of the 14 pin connector going to the box? This is what I am trying to understand.
Machine is cutting good but without ohmic thin sheets are a challange.
Hi there. Long time listener, first time valler!! LOL
I had the same issue when upgrading my plasma from Mach 4 to Centroid. I also used the black box after installing Centroid. This is the issue. The cable that was supplied to you REPLACES the black box. You can throw the black box away. The new cable goes from the switch on the gantry directly to the Centroid box.
No worries…I almost made that mistake so It was a possibility as well. I think I asked Eric as well on that. and this post might help others.
Update:
Checked the other wire that goes to the control box. all ok
So I removed white wire at input 9 …hookup a long wire to the input to the ohmic ring of the torch and it works.
So now I was certain it is a wiring issue…looking at the wires that goes to the torch switch again…there is a heat shrink…cut it open and there is a brown wire that was pulled and hiding in there (Eric was right here but I could not see it!)…so connected everything and works. btw the ohmic works with my plasma off as well. now I can move on and try to setup the THC.
