Spindle ccw on ex

I have a pwncnc spindle. When I was running Mach 3 I could make it go in reverse. Is that possible on the ex platform.
Looks like I need to add another output (output 6 maybe) to control the direction. I already plan on using relay 2 for something else.

Has anybody done this?
What would it take?

It’s possible, there are outputs and the PLC in Centroid can handle it.

You’d need to get that output to control and input on the VFD, also possible.

But…why? I’d be interested to know the reasoning here…

I suspect the answer will be either tapping, or using something like the rapidchange ATC.

I considered both, but ended up with a more traditional ATC, and don’t really need to do much tapping.

I had a rapidchange on my previous machine. Due to budgetary considerations I decided to use my old spindle, and my rapidchange on my new system. I have the tool pickup on the rapidchange working better than I’d ever seen it. This is due to the positional accuracy (better homing) and that I located the pockets with a probe. I feel like I will be done if I get the ccw working.

The pwncnc vfd/spindle has a fwd and a reverse digital input. I can make a cable.

Do you know the name of that 14 pin connector on the avid spindle control port?

Is output 6 up for grabs?

Thanks

Ahhh… The Rapid Change, I forgot about the need to reverse on those. As far as the 14 pin connector:

https://www.avidcnc.com/support/instructions/electronics/ex/manual/stepper/24.1/schematics/#14-pin-control-cable

Output 6 is reserved for torch on plasma systems so unless you have that you should be good to go.

I need to buy one of those 14 pin connectors so that I can attach it to the cable that goes to the vfd. Do you know what the name of that connector style is?

Never mind. It is an Amp 182649-1 connector.

Thanks
