So, I’ve started in on my upgrade and I have stalled a bit. I’m trying to install the motor pulleys onto the shaft of the new servo motor, and I am finding this to be incredibly difficult. I calipered all the motor shafts and all the pulleys provided in the upgrade, and the pulleys just seem too small to fit over the shafts. I called it in to support, and they sent me out three new pulleys. So now I have six pulleys and they still seem too tight to fit onto the servo motor shaft.
Has anyone else struggled with this step ? I was thinking of trying a dry lube to help, but I am still nervous about getting the pulley seized onto the shaft.
I will say that I do like the captive slot for the motor shaft key on these servo motors. I had a key work it’s way out on a Nema 34 motor that then pinched in the R&P rail. So I do like this design much better.
Have you tried removing the set screws and see if that makes it slip-on then try without the shaft key and the screws. I’m just trying to remove the possibility that something like these are preventing you to slip the pulley on. There is really tight tolerances with the shaft and pulley you don’t want any slop with those connections.
Hey Scott, we had some pulleys go out that were out of tolerance. I see that you already have a ticket in the system. We’ll get this resolved for you, likely with a new set of pulleys. Stay in touch with support and they’ll get you sorted out.
I had removed the set screws before attempting this, and my problems have continued with 6 different pulleys. Eric, I appreciate you staying on top of things and yes hoping to hear back from support to figure out next steps.
We’re on top of it. We don’t mind at all you asking here, but just to keep the communication straight I’d stick with communicating with support through email. They’ll take care of you.
