When I try to set part zeros, the spindle only makes micro movements toward the touch plate such that I have to jog the tool to within less of a mm or it won’t contact the surface and results in a detection error. Any ideas why and how to fix?
I had this problem with the original release of the avid ex control software. I fixed some of the metric bugs, but missed fixing the touch plate dimensions. The problem is that when you switch to metric at on the old version, the dimensions of the touch plate remain unchanged and are now very small. If you upgrade to the latest release from avid, the problem should be fixed. If you don’t want to do that, you can go in and change the touchplate dimensions to the correct dimensions in metric manually, which is what I did before Avid released their update.
I found the problem. I scrolled down the touch plate setup page and saw some tiny numbers for the distances. I never modified those values. I clicked reset and it populated with more reasonable values. I basically moved the decimal 3 places to the right lol
thanks for that, I was having the same problem, probing only traveling 2.5mm before stopping. While they changed the touch plate dimensions I think they forgot to change the travel distance when converting. I will see what values populate after pressing the reset button.
