Metric settings with EX controller, a few more things to watch out for

I normally work in metric, so I switched the machine over to metric.

I ran into the previously reported issue with homing, and made a local change to my homing code. I expect I’ll be able to throw this away as soon as Avid makes their next update.

The other issue I ran into that is that the Avid touch plate also needs to have it’s dimensions restated in metric in the Avid setup. I just went in and did the conversion by hand, but it might be nice to rewrite things a bit so the units are clear in the input dialogue and handled correctly when the user switches over to metric settings.

You also want to watch out that you fix all the various clearances that are put in at run time, as the default inch based values will not be what you want when you go to run the touch plate probing.

Hopefully this also save someone else a bit of trouble.

Cheers,

Eric

Yup! We have a fix nearly done for this. It’ll be out very soon

Hi @Eric ,
Any news on that fix ? I don’t understand how you can live in an imperial world
Thanks

Great ! Thanks

Hi @Eric,
Any updates? It’s been a month since this issue was raised, and I’m losing a lot of time because of it. Are you encountering a major challenge on your end?

No the issue is solved. Centroid is about to release a nice update that includes a lot of other features that users have been requesting. Once we get that we will wrap it up with our changes and release.

My recommendation is to wait for that. I think you’ll like the new features.
