New Machine isn't homing (EX Controller) <SOLVED>

Hi,

I just assembled my brand new AVID and it went really smoothly. I can jog all axis and everything seems to work, but homing. When I home the machine all proximity sensors are detected and it drives the machine on all Axis to a hard stop. After that I get an error message that says that one of my proximity sensors is still trigerred after a hard stop and I have to re-adjust them. When I look at the machine both Y sensors and the X Sensor is triggered and the machine is still at the hard stop position. On Z the sensor is not triggered and the machine is 10mm lower than the hard stop position.
I readjusted all sensors in both directions but no change…

Any Ideas?

I found it - it is a bug in the servo.hom file for metric users.

A line like

IF #4006 EQ 21 THEN #110 = [#110 * 25.4] ;backoff distance for metric

is missing. So for metric users the backoff distance remains a fracture of a mm instead of 1/3 inch.

Works for me now, but needs to be fixed in the generator.

Great catch! I’ll look into it and make sure it’s corrected

Hi Heiko, i have a question about the ex controller bundle, did you get yours as an upgrade or with a new machine? If you got it as an upgrade, did avid send you new rack and pinion mount plates or did the existing plates work with the servos?

Lucas

Hi Lucas. It is a brand new machine.

I just took delivery of the upgrade version. You reuse the mount plates. The only new piece of hardware replaced is the motor pulley, the rest is swapped over.

Yeh, i got the same, i was just wondering because my invoice says rack and pinion upgrade kit. But nothing on the rack and pinion gets changed other than the pully which was a seperate line item.
