Migrating from Mach4 to EX : Z axis extremely slow, impossible to home

Hi,

I am migrating from Mach 4 to the EX controller with Servos. I have a 8.7HP Spindle.

I’m able to jog the machine on the X and Y axes, but I have a problem with the Z axis.

I can jog up but jogging down is very very slow. It’s a little better with the pendant but it doesn’t really look normal speed. If I home the machine, the Z axis will take several minutes to move up by 1cm to the sensor.

Do I have a problem with the break ? How can I check if the brake is released correctly?

PS : I wrote to the support, but the weekend is coming and if I could get my machine back at work before tonight it would be very cool.

Any idea of what I should check?

I just found this screen:

The Fast Jog for the Z- axis is set to 150mm/min by default. It’s very very slow. Do you all have the same parameters? I don’t understand why the fast jog is slower than the slow jog.

Ok, I started from scratch with a new profile and did not configure the machine to metrics and now everything works correctly.
I believe there are a couple of issues when switching to metrics. I will follow up with Avid Support.

We have an update coming to fix metric. Use imperial until next week when we release that update

Thanks, Eric. By the way, your latest video is awesome—it made the initial setup super easy.
