Issue with homing Z on Servo EX Controller - New Build

I completed a new CNC build over the weekend. After encountering a drive error, I discovered that VFD settings needed updating to resolve the issue.

I’m facing a problem with the Z-axis homing procedure. I can start the homing procedure, but the Z axes do not move; however, the DRO is incrementing like it is moving. When I manually trigger the Z-axis proximity sensor, the Z-axis moves down an inch and then proceeds with the XY axes, doing both the prox homing and hard homing.

I followed the troubleshooting guide, which suggested updating to profile v5.18 u2, but I can’t find the option to download this profile. Does anyone know where to find it?

In addition, I found that the rear prox sensor does not prevent the machine from moving like the forward-facing prox sensors.

Thank

Derick

Ok, so you were able to reprogram the VFD so that it’s not causing a drive fault?

When you start up and and press reset, but before you home can you jog the Z axis up and down manually with no issue?

The current profile you have is the most up to date (we only have one available for download)

This is correct behavior. Only one sensor on the front and rear is set for limits

Thank you for your reply

VFD settings: We updated the VFD settings found in the support documentation. Should Avid have updated the VFD settings, as I purchased a complete kit? If not, am I missing other steps that I need to take?

Z-axis: Yes, I can jog it down and up.

Profile: Z Axis - Troubleshooting - Calls out " Update to CNC12 Avid CNC Profile v5.18 u2 or newer."

U2 is not out yet, and it only solves a homing issue for those running in Metric. I assume given the American flag in your avatar you’re running in Imperial?

This is good, let me talk to some folks internally and see what we need to do here. We may end up contacting you directly. Stay tuned.

If you haven’t already heard from them support should be reaching out to you shortly
