I’m connecting the laser power supply H (high) (3.3 to 5 v) trigger and connecting the ground to my z stepper drive ground and the trigger to the direction pulse terminal.
In my setup “down” gives 3.8 v “up” measures. 0.5v.
Just make sure the last movement is always up so the laser won’t trigger when you arm it.

Just added a “knife edge” bed for cutting larger pieces…and can lay my honeycomb on top for smaller cuts…smoke extraction is now thru the spoil board…but still a work in progress…
So you aren’t using the ESS’s laser capability then (the PWM and Laser Gate signals), just purely from Z axis motor movements?
Getting ready to switch over to that type control…just using the z trigger for testing
