Having an issue with my Z either losing calibration mid cut or too much backlash in lead screw? As it drills 5mm shelving holes I can visibly see the Z get closer and closer as it goes along. Eventhough Mach 4 still says “0.236” or whatever my “safe Z” height is.
This ever happen to anyone else? And is there any different Z calibration methods out there besides moving it and measuring with a caliper or dial indicator? Same with the backlash.
Hearing things about a “Z axis brake”, is this a solution to symptoms as such?
Welcome to the forum. I haven’t had this particular issue, but I’ve seen it discussed multiple times on the forum and it almost always comes back to one of a few things. So far I haven’t seen that symptom due to backlash or calibration - they would be the least likely culprits.
