A curvy bookcase that I use for shoes

Hi everyone!
Here’s something new from my Avid CNC; a bookcase / shelf cabinet / shoe storage thing:



The goal here was to create very smooth curves, and specifically I wanted G2 and G3 continuity to make it look fluid. These are the types of curves that industrial designers love to do. Especially my old co-workers at Apple. Just take a look at the corner of an iPhone and wonder about how much time was spent on that curve.

Luckily, the CNC let’'s you design and cut wood very precisely!

Interesting how often Apple uses the exact same curve/radius across many products over many years.

That’s true! I am not sure how often they actually tweak them. I was on the software side of things when I worked there.
