Wondering if the ATC can be placed at the front of the machine as well as the back I currently have a 4x10 footprint with the back dedicated as a 4x8 cutting area for sheetgoods and other carving, and a 4th axis in the 2ft extension in the front. There is a fair amount of unused space between the 4th axis to the front of the machine that looks like it would easily fit a static tool holder. Inquiring minds want to know!
Our standard rack placement will be in the rear of the machine. This will be for fixed and sliding racks.
You aren’t limited tool holders back there though, you can place them anywhere you want in the work area (with a few caveats)
The tool holder bolt to the extrusion so you can pretty easily move them around. If you put them in the front of the machine you just want to make sure the tool presence sensor can reach (it’s behind the spindle)
If the sensor can’t reach you can turn it off, but you won’t have that safety feature.
You can really put it wherever you want, but I discuss why I put mine in the back in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ofZPG8ICE_Q
